Treasured Possession!

I know - the Bible tells us not to lay up treasures on earth - but Jerry does have a new treasure that he wants me to share with you! Two of the families in our congregation at Eastminster raise ostriches. I think I shared with you that we were treated to a dinner of ostrich steak at one of their homes - and it was yummy. These two gentlemen wanted to Jerry to have a pair of cowboy boots made from their ostriches, and you can see the results! We used to refer to Jerry as "the grandest tiger in the jungle" when he wore his exquisite needle-pointed clerical stoles. Now that he is retired (?), we will call him that when he dons his wonderful leather/beaded jacket his daughters gave him for Christmas in 2004 along with his new ostrich boots. Jerry and Carla have a bet with Jo that she cannot go an entire year without purchasing a pair of shoes. If she succeeds, they have each promised to buy her a pair of shoes in London next December. (See Jo's blog re "shoes".) So, Jo - eat your heart out when you see your Dad's new boots! If you want to receive an email from me letting you know when I have made a new entry to this website, just send me an email or a comment and let me know. If you make a comment to this posting, please do so as "other" rather than "anonymous" so I will know who you are! Thanks, and love.... Mary

Hello Grumps, now you and Shannon both have red cowboy boots. Of course, hers are not ostrich---just cheap leather! Mighty fine boots you got there, Mister! :) Love, Lady J

I want to know if it took one or 2 ostriches to make a pair of boots as fine as those? None finer in the Ozarks, that's for shure!!!

I have a fine list of London shoe stores -- personally evaluated on more than one occasion -- just for Jo. I can't think of any that carry ostrich boots so I'm glad Jerry has his. By the way, were the ostriches fattened nd "raided" with the JMH feet in mind?

We look forward to more stories on the blog.

They're great looking but are they comfortable for walking the old cobblestone streets of London. Looking forward to seeing both of you. Lynn and Jack

Love the boots. We will look forward to seeing them in person.

Meredith asked if Jo would lose the bet if someone bought shoes and gave them to her. She can't imagine having to go a year without getting new shoes!!!

Disregard my first note. I finally got it to open. We are happy/relieved to hear that you look forward to coming "home". So glad to hear that you still call us "home". And yes, we too think the boots handsome indeed. Love to both, Nancy

I'm delighted to see that Jerry has a new pair of boots--that means that his pant legs can continue to get stuck!

P.S. add us to the blog list

Mary and Jerry - Glad for news about you - please keep it coming. I'm glad that some things never change (Jerry and his boots). One day in staff Steve Schorr's pant leg got stuck in his boot. I was kinda scary for the staff. Donna

No self respecting Okie would wear boots that are not made from a Bovine. Hope the PNC committee is working slowly as Bobbi and I are planning an outing in ICT on june 11. Let me know if you plan on running for cover or will be around.
